2 Hot Trends in the HVAC IndustryJonathan at Aeroseal
Just this month, ACHR News contributor Maria Taylor highlighted two hot trends in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC):
- More Energy-Efficiency HVAC Equipment for Residential and Commercial Systems
- Healthier Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) in Homes and Buildings
Improve Energy Efficiency and IAQ with Duct Sealing.
Too many people overlook the tremendous benefits of sealing ductwork. Duct leakage is significant challenge for getting HVAC equipment to operate efficiently and maintain clean, healthy air in homes and buildings.
When air ducts leak, the whole design of the HVAC equipment is messed up. Conditioned air from the furnace or air conditioning unit does not get distributed to the conditioned spaces of a home or building appropriately.
Duct sealing needs to be added to everyone’s list of ways to improve air quality and energy efficiency in homes and buildings. When ductwork is not properly sealed, the airflow from the HVAC equipment to the desired rooms/spaces is messed up. Leaks (e.g. small holes, cracks, seams) in ductwork allows UN-conditioned air to enter the supply and return ventilation systems and get distributed throughout the rooms/spaces in a home or building. Un-conditioned air carries dust, allergens, and other airborne contaminants that people breathe when it gets blown into a room from a register.
