Meet Kesha: An Accounting Specialist Spreading Happiness

Kesha’s title may be accounting specialist. But her unwritten job description is simple —  to spread happiness. And not just by issuing checks and making direct deposits. What makes her day at work is the opportunity to engage with her fellow Aeromates and to get to know them.

“My customers are my co-workers.”

In addition to submitting payroll for all employees, as well as accounts payable and receivable, Kesha does whatever it takes to make sure employees are happy. Getting paid correctly and on time is critical to creating a good environment for employees, so she makes sure things are running smoothly when pay day comes.

As the company was growing, Kesha also helped out with HR responsibilities. As a result, she was the first person new hires interacted with for onboarding.

Kesha also admires the learning opportunities at Aeroseal and the transparency between employees and Aeroseal’s senior leadership team. Amit Gupta, Aeroseal’s CEO, places a lot of importance on employee self-improvement and open-door policies as a result.

Filling Her Cup First
“My day starts with taking care of myself so I can help others.”

Starting at 4 am, Kesha submerses herself in self-care activities that promote focus and productivity such as meditation, exercise, journaling, and reading — all before the work day begins. Kesha also establishes boundaries in her work schedule to be sure her tasks are completed on-time. For example, she blocks time on her schedule every Monday through Wednesday for payroll.

“I am a grounded person and can handle any unplanned events that pop up unexpectedly. They don’t affect me as much,” she says. “Smiling and focusing on positive things definitely helps with that.”

Kesha says that all companies have their flaws, but what makes Aeroseal stand out is the action taken against those flaws for overall improvement of the company. Kesha has been able to learn the different ways accounting works. After receiving a Master’s degree in accounting, she instantly felt the difference between learning in a classroom versus actually doing it.

To succeed in a role like Kesha’s, there must be a willingness to learn. Aeroseal wants to teach those who want to learn, so don’t be afraid to ask any and all questions. Being open-minded and friendly promotes a positive atmosphere for everyone.
