                      Common Clues of Deficient Ductwork

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. For homes experiencing energy loss, that weak link could be deficient ductwork. When addressing the energy expenditure of a home, you want to first tackle the weakest link.

For a thorough investigation of the home and HVAC system, you’ll perform a pre-assessment. This will help you find what’s producing the problem and what corrective actions are needed. Then you can work with the homeowner and decide how to solve it.

As a qualified HVAC technician, there are a variety of scenarios that may lead homeowners to ask for your help. These could be clues to a defective air duct system:

                      1. A homeowner is experiencing air quality inconsistencies

Air quality inconsistencies indicate the existence of an underlying problem. Any air duct system that can’t supply sufficient air quality into the living environment may lead to adverse outcomes for the health and well-being of inhabitants.

Airborne contaminants are a common concern for those battling breathing or respiratory issues while indoors. Contaminants entering without being exhausted from the home will increase the concentration of contaminants. Airflow obstruction could be causing this. Leaks in the ductwork can contribute to ventilation issues, diminishing the air quality of the indoor environment.

Assess the home and ductwork for the source of indoor air quality issues. If it is a problem with the HVAC system, it could be the fault of leaky ductwork. To prevent the introduction and distribution of unclean air, you must have a well-sealed system.

                      2. A homeowner is experiencing high humidity and/or temperature irregularities

A hot or cold room and any area of the home that has inconsistent temperatures on an ongoing basis may lead to lingering discomfort. It has a negative impact on the atmosphere of the space, and this sacrifices the comfort of the environment.

To establish a constant temperature, the HVAC system must be in working order. For a duct sealing application, you’ll want to identify what is inhibiting duct performance. If it turns out there are leaks, sealing them will alleviate issues impacting comfort. If there are other components to the problem, these can be combined with sealing.

                      3. Homeowners are experiencing soaring energy costs and rising bills

If costs are rising without justification, this is sure to capture the homeowner’s attention. To lower soaring costs, the home must be evaluated with a focus on energy efficiency to cut consumption. Looking at opportunities for the unit to function most efficiently is a fast way to improve the performance of the overall system.

Help homeowners knock out the weak link by getting their homes sealed with Aeroseal’s advanced sealing solution.
