Our Duct Process

Our automated process ensures precise sealing in just a few hours.

Leaks in the ductwork are similar to holes in a balloon. They cause air to escape quickly. The Aeroseal solution uses an atomized sealant that follows pressurized air as it escapes through the leaks in the ductwork, sealing the holes, like blood clotting.

STEP 1

Prep

• All supply and return registers are tapped over and the furnace/coils are isolated from the duct system.

STEP 2

Connect

• The equipment is connected to the duct system via an inlet hole or directly through a register.

STEP 3

Seal

• The computer-controlled equipment automatically sprays sealant through the pressurized ductwork, only filling cracks & holes.

STEP 4

Certify

• Equipment is disconnected, any inlets are patched, and the Seal Certificate is created to verify results.

Our Envelope Process

Leaks in a building envelope release pressure and allow odor and pollutants inside. The AeroBarrier solution uses an atomized sealant that follows pressurized air as it escapes through building leaks and seals them along the way.

Preparation

• Cover finished horizontal surfaces

• Cover openings that should not be sealed

• Set up equipment

STEP 2

Pressurization & Application

• Pressurize space and establish baseline leakage

• Input your target ACH50 rating

• Begin injection of aerosolized AeroBarrier Sealant via AeroBarrier Software​

STEP 3

Sealing & Monitoring

• Monitor sealing progress via Aerobarrier software

• Track and report progress every 10 second via continuous blower door test

• Verify sealing to required ACH50 target

STEP 4

Cleanup

• Generate Envelope Sealing Report via AeroBarrier software

• Remove protective coverings and equipment

• Resume construction work within 30 minutes

FAQ

Is your formula safe?
Our formula is a water-soluble organic compound and is proven safe. The sealant is ultra-low VOC and because it is inert there is no chemical reaction needed to form a seal meaning there is no off-gassing. With more than 150,000 projects sealed to date, we’ve helped hospitals, surgery centers, schools, and public buildings make sure their air is clean, healthy and comfortable – and saved them energy and money in the process.
In fact, our sealant is GreenGuard Gold Certified, meeting the stricter certification requirements used in schools and healthcare facilities.
What's in the actual material being sprayed?
The AeroBarrier sealant is based on a waterborne acrylic that has been used as a fluid-applied permeable air barrier for many years. The sealant is GREENGUARD Gold certified and has been tested according to various ASTM standards and NFPA 285 for fire spread, smoke production, adhesion, antifungal properties and tensile strength. The sealant is ultra-low VOC and has no off-gassing.
Is it safe to breathe during application?
No. During application, if a technician has to enter the space while it is being sealed, they wear personal protective equipment (PPE). After the sealing is complete, the area is safe to enter without protective gear within 20 to 30 minutes.
What happens if any of the sealant were to accidentally get on something?
AeroBarrier can be cleaned off surfaces. We recommend using a standard citrus based cleaner.
